Small thoughts Rants and Raves

Rants- Laker coach Mike Brown     for reinserting Dwight Howard in a blow out of the Detroit Pistons. Howard who is recovering from back surgery should have been done for the night, but Coach Brown, wanted the margin of victory to be 20 points or more. Really? Seriously?  Did Brown have a bet on the game? It was a very strange move for a supposed good coach.

Rants – NFL for announcing that Sean Payton’s contract with the New Orleans Saints was voided for inappropriate language. The weird part is the timing of it. It is done in the middle of the season, and prior to the Saints playing on Monday Night Football. Even if the contract was voided making Payton a free agent, it would be unlikely he could sign with a team and take over the way he would want to, and bring in his people. This was a strange move by Goodell and company, which just shows how much of a mad on he has for the Saints.

Rants- Lamar Odom  for continuing to sulk after the Lakers, long after the trade to Dallas and signing with the Clippers. Lamar repeat after me…Hi I’m Lamar Odom of the Los Angeles Clippers.

Raves to the New York Knicks,  who are off to a fast start beating the Heat on opening night, and then following up with back to back victories of the 76ers. All three games featured long lost staples of Ewing led Knicks who made championship runs…Rebounding and Defense. There is a third element that is surprising – three point shooting. Best part is the way Carmelo Anthony is playing TEAM ball, no Isolation. It seems as if his time with the Olympus team has done wonders for his improved attitude and play. Keep it up Knicks.

Raves to Jon Gruden for stating the truth about the Eagles on Monday Night Football, they are not blocking, tackling, or catching or running the football. And it isn’t all falling on just the coaching. He put the blame where it rightly belongs ..on the players.

Raves to the New York Mets  Why? For finally getting it right in cutting ties with Jason Bay. He is a nice guy who simply did not produce and looked to be a shell of his former self. At least now the Mets are moving in the right direction. He was a automatic out in a lineup that needed thump, he didn’t have it so it was time to keep it moving.

Raves to the Indianapolis Colts   Be honest, you didn’t think they would be this good this soon did you? No Peyton Manning, new head coach, rookie quarterback and basically a gutted team and at best 2-14 or 3-13 for a record. Here they stand at 5-3 and are mentioned about being in the playoffs. Their head coach, Chuck Pagano is battling cancer and they are feeding off his inspiration. Nice feel good story to the season.
