The Return of Jeremy Lin: Will Knick fans Cheer or boo him

act_jeremy_lin For three weeks, he was the toast of the town. He was everywhere, Linsanity was live and in person. Bigger than life, shirts, newspaper articles and blogs(including this one) were all about Jeremy Lin. He electrified Madison Square Garden. For a while at least he saved Mike Dantoni’s job. He stepped up when Carmelo was injured. The Knicks thought highly of him, they planned on bringing him back, when they signed Jason Kidd, the plan was to have Jason Kidd come off the bench and tutor the young point guard. Then a funny thing happened. What look like a sure he is coming back turned out to be wait a minute. An offer from the Houston Rockets altered the Knicks plans of bringing back Jeremy Lin and Linsanity.  The contract offer in the final year was the back breaker. Lin had a right to get the best contract he could get. Maybe he didn’t go about it the right way, but it is his right to get the best deal, and if Houston was going to be willing to pay well….then Houston you got Linsanity. Don’t feel bad for the Knicks or Jeremy Lin. He got his money and the money the Knicks didn’t use on Lin ended up being Ray Felton and Kurt Thomas, both who have played strong minutes and contributed to the Knicks  18-5 start. Jason Kidd set the tone from the beginning. The defense and the 3 point shooting are direct imprints of Jason Kidd. Last season’s back court of Baron Davis, Toney Douglas, Mike Bibby weren’t getting it done. Once teams locked in on Lin the Knicks were not as affective. This season you can’t afford to leave anyone open because this team can and will shoot and shoot some more.  And while no one brings this up, the Knicks were on the high end of turnovers last season. Lin a major part of that. This season the Knicks average 10 turnovers per game almost half of what they averaged last season. Lin got his money, Houston got a player to go with Harden, and the Knicks upgraded their backcourt tremendously in Kidd, Felton, J.R.Smith and Prigioni. But for Knick fans what will you do when Jeremy Lin is announced, will you cheer, thanking him for the brief moments in time that he gave, or will you boo him because he left?
