Jets playoff hopes are over

york-jets-v-tennessee-titans-20121217-190438-478 Whatever slim chances the New York Jets had at making the playoffs are over. The Titans escaped with a 14-10 victory and I do mean escaped. The Jets had the ball on the final poessesion of the game driving down field onthe Titans running the ball well. A touchdown wins the game, yes the Jets were within striking distance. The Titans punted weakly which gave the Jets  a golden opportunity they didn’t deserve with a horrible 19-yard punt, and it took Sanchez just one play to waste the opportunity. He couldn’t handle a low shotgun snap from center Nick Mangold, running back Bilal Powell inadvertently kicked the ball away, and that was all she wrote. End of game, end of playoff chances. This has to mark the end of Sanchez as a quarterback as a Jet. Yes is a salary cap hit, but there is no way they can bring him back after this. Time after time I have been one of his biggest supporters, but time after time in big moments this season he has done something to hurt his own casue and the team’s chances of winning. The fact that the Jets had stayed with Sanchez says more about the other Quarterbacks on this roster than their faith in him.

At 6-8 the best the Jets can do now is win the next two ( San Diego Chargers and the Buffalo Bills) to finish 8-8. No playoffs two years in a row, and this after all the hype to bring tebow in and not play him or in some cases not dress him. There will be changes made for next season’s version of the New York Jets. The next jet quarterback isn’t on this roster yet. They were thin at receiver at the start of the season then losing Holmes to season ending injury hurt them in more ways than one. The offense line had issues, the running game couldn’t find it’s legs until the end of the season, and management did little to nothing to upgrade this team at the skill positions. Expect the van to be loaded and people to be sent packing. Will the coach be among the many told to leave? That remains to be seen but after tonight’s loss …anything is possible.

  1. The Jets offense all season has been way too inconsistent and Jon Gruden must’ve been doing too much of the “Mary Jane ” if he believes that Cromartie is one of the better corner-backs in the NFL . Cromartie and Asomugha of the Eagles are not the players they were three , much less , four years ago . Old and decrepit would be a word best to describe them both !

Time pull up sticks and start all over again . Get rid off Tony Sparano for starters , he’s one trick , three-legged pony , whose knowledge as an offensive coordinator hasn’t done this franchise any favors whatsoever !
