With the 2012 NFL season coming down to the final 2 weeks of the season, there are some stories that continue to bear watching. The rookies: Robert Griffin III, Russell Wilson, and Andrew Luck continue their season long battle as to who will be the league’s top rookie. I’t too close to tell. If you’re a Redskins fan, most likely you will think RGIII is the top rookie and that his heisman trophy award was not a fluke, and you could make a case for him, the same can be said for Andrew Luck who many will say he lived up to the expectations of r what was thought of him coming out of Stanford and the one that continues confround many is Russell Wilson who wasn’t even in the conversation to be the starting quarterback at the beginning of the year. (Don’t forget Seattle signed Matt Flynn to be their starter.) But the real fun has already begun with the debate of who is going to win the league’s MVP. The top 3 this season coming down the home stretch is Adrian Peterson, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. For a moment let’s toss Brady out of the conversation mainly because everyone expected him to be this good and this great again as always. But both Manning and Peterson are totally different stories because both have battled back from serious injuries. Consider this piece of information on Adrian Peterson:
On Christmas Eve 2011, Peterson tore the ACL and MCL in his left knee. He missed only the final game of that season but returned for the opening kickoff of the 2012 campaign — a season for the ages. Peterson’s 1,812 rushing yards leads the NFL and are the most by any player through 14 games since the NFL went to a 16-game schedule in 1978. He is within striking distance to break Eric Dickerson’s single-season record of 2,105 yards set in 1984.
Now consider the following on Peyton Manning:
After multiple neck surgeries forced Manning to miss all of 2011, his health and performance were both in question. Manning answered the bell this year in resounding fashion. He extended his own NFL record with his 12th season of 4,000 passing yards, and he leads the NFL in Total QBR (81.5). His 11 wins are the most by a player after missing an entire season of play and are the most for the Broncos since 2005.
Given the choice between the three, Brady in my opinion wouldn’t be a factor because of what both players overcame this season. So it comes down to Manning and Peterson. Even if Adrian Peterson doesn’t break Eric Dickerson single season record this week, he had a great season and the reason why the Vikings are even in the playoff hunt. But in my opinion I am giving the nod to Peyton Manning. I admit I was among those who thought he might not make it through the season and was concerned about him getting hit and hurt and be out yet again. Add to the mix he is with a new team, new city, for him to be nothing short of Peyton Manning and the fact that manning had not played in a full year and had to work of the rust and the concerns about his injury… I think Peyton Manning should be league MVP of 2012.

A valid point Jerry…an a case cold be made for AP and Peyton. I’m giving Peterson a slight edge here but wouldn’t be disappointed if Peyton grabs it instead.
what you have described is called COME BACK PLAYER OF THE YEAR which is attached to a freaking “story” but the real MVP has been Brady all season long for different reasons…one of the youngest defense of the league , had to adjust to alot of injuries to his Oline and offense , have had one of the hardest schedule and isn’t in a super duper weak division like Manning is… plus his stats are way better than Mannings! there you have it but once again the people will buy the “story” and overlook how great Brady has played because the guy is being taken for granted! that’s sad!
