Life after the NBA has been anything but kind to Latrell Sprewell former NBA star.Sprewell’s River Hills home was foreclosed on in 2008. U.S. marshals auctioned off his 70-foot, $1.5 million yacht in 2007 and in 2011 Sprewell was among Wisconsin’s top “tax deadbeats,” owing the state $3.5 million in unpaid income taxes.Sprewell was arrested for disorderly conduct Monday afternoon after police received repeated complaints about loud music coming from a house on E. Pleasant St. on Milwaukee’s east side, according to jail records reviewed by the Journal Sentinel Tuesday. He was once noted for choking then coach of the Golden State Warriors P.J Carlesimo at the team’s practice. Sprewell played in the NBA for 13 seasons for the Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks and the Minnesota Timberwolves. In 2005, according to media reports at the time, Sprewell turned down a $21 million three-year contract with the Timberwolves, suggesting the amount wasn’t enough to feed his children. If 21 million isn’t enough to feed your children what would? As time would suggest that wasn’t the wisest move to turn down that money since financially Sprewell has been lacking as stated above.
It’s sad to see Sprewell have to hit such ” hard times “ , but that’s what tends to happen when your life has no focus and there’s an entourage of bloodsuckers that you allow within your inner circle , proffering up lame #@s advice . Consider the money earned over the course of his career (est . $100 million ) and now he hasn’t a pot to pi$s in , much less a window to throw it out of .
Now there is a shocker :).
LOL Agreed it’s sad how much money he blew in a career
Beyond needing a chaperone , athletes who also needed a good accountant / financial adviser , Mike Tyson , Evander Holyfield , Sprewell, and Deuce McAllister .
I agree this underscores the value of a good education
