For a team who only managed to score 5 points in the 3rd quarter against the San Antonio Spurs the game before, they did a complete reversal and played with spunk and did the unthinkable beating the Thunder in Oklahoma City 110-93. It was the backcourt of Joe Johnson and Deron Williams that led the way.
Joe Johnson scored a season-high 33 points, Deron Williams added 19 points and 13 assists, and the Nets snapped Oklahoma City’s 12-game home winning streak, Wednesday night in a game featuring the first ejection of Kevin Durant‘s career late in the game when it was no longer in doubt. The Nets received an earful off the pitful performance the night before from interim coach P.J.Carlesimo. Apparently a fresh voice got the point across, for this night for sure. Was it the jolt this team needed? Only time will tell. But for one night the Thunder received a spanking at home that they usually inflict on visting teams. Each time the Thunder started getting close the Nets would answer with a run of their own. The Thunder finally pulled even at 85-85 then the Nets answered with a 23-8 run which sealed OKC’s fate for this night. With the win the Nets are 17-15 second in the Atlantic Division 41/2 games behind the New York Knicks and 7th in the Eastern Conference for the playoffs.
