As reported on yahoo sports Mike Napoli and the Boston RedSox agree to a one yr deal for 5 Million that includes bonuses that could reach 13 million total. This is a far cry from the 3 year 39 million dollar deal they had reached back in December.
Napoli apparently suffers from a chronic hip condition that has gone unreported over the course of his career. Which came to light during his physcial with the RedSox. Both parties Napoli and the Red Sox still wanted to do a deal, but there was no way Boston was going to be indebted for nearly $40 million. So after weeks of negotations a deal was struck.
Seattle Seahawks Defensive Coordinator Gus Bradley has agreed to become the new head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars now have both the General manager (Dave Caldwell) and their head coach in place.
Bradley spent the last four seasons in Seattle, earning a reputation as a fiery assistant who demanded – and often got – the most from his players. His defense improved each of the last three years and finished in the top 10 in points and yards the last two. This season, the Seahawks ranked first in points allowed (15.3), fourth in yards (306.2) and tied for fourth in takeaways (31).
The Jaguars were 30th in the league in total defense in 2012. Look for the Jaguars to really make stridesin getting better defensively.
The Cleveland Browns have hired former San Diego Chargers head coach Norv Turner as their new offensive coordinator.
New Cleveland coach Rob Chudzinski expects Turner to make a big impact on that side of the ball, and the Browns can use the help. Cleveland went 5-11 last year and scored just 302 points in coach Pat Shurmur’s final season.
