New York Media needs to cut Rex Ryan slack on going to Clemson

This story ios much to do over nothing amd mostly it is says alot about how quickly the New York Media (some in print and other sports talk radio) turned om Rex Ryan, saying things like he is disinterested in his team or he is running out on his team… Rex Ryan’s son Seth plays football at Clemson University, it was his first game there …Rex had free time so he used it.

This is what happened in Rex Ryan’s own words:
“Almost all of our moves were made, Friday evening, when I was here,” Ryan said. “I talked to several of the players that we were going to release. I don’t think it was official until – we actually never made our moves until later that evening and that’s why the report came out when it did the next day. It came out Saturday. But certainly I spoke with most of our guys that were released just like I’ve done every year. I was very aware of our situation.”

“This was an opportunity to go see my son play his first college game. I think ‘played’ is probably not very accurate. I saw him stand there,” Ryan said. “But it was a great deal. Obviously, it’s not like I’m going to be able to go to another game. It just so happened I could make that one. It was a night game. That’s really what I did. I took advantage of it. It was great. I just played dad there for a day. That was a lot of fun.”

Rex Ryan did what many of us do when our children or grandchildren have a special event in their lives, we show up and be there to give our support. Rex did nothing that many of us haven’t done before and will do again if the need is there. This is a case where the new york Media needs to cut Rex some serious slack. Coaches are often missing from their families especially in the NFL where they are required to put alot of hours in. The fact that he had a break in his schedule and got his work done and used his free time to spend with his family says that Ryan for one moment was like the rest of us. He shouldn’t have to apologize or explain himself to the big bad New York media.

Rex Ryan has enough issues going on with the Jets many of his own doing to be sure, but this is piling on and it isn’t necessary. He doesn’t always carry himself well in the media I understand that, and his handling the quarterback situation is nothing short of horrible but he didn’t skip practice, he talked to the necessary players, the General Manager didn’t have a problem with it so why does the media?

If this had been Tom Coughlin who went to see his son play or one of his grandkids play, this would be a non story. Rex Ryan attracts alot of attentionon himself and his statements about how well he thinks the team will do always gets a rise out of the media, but this is pushing things alittle to far, cut the man alittle slack.
