Ken Norton dead at 70.

Ken Norton best known for his 3 thisclose fights with Muhammad Ali, passed away at age 70. Norton was tough in the ring and his awarkward style baffled Ali alot. In their fights it was true that styles made fights.Neither man ever knocked the other down and all 3 fights went the distance. In their first fight Norton taken lightly by Ali broke Ali’s jaw in the second round of their fight on his way to victory. It would be the only time he would have beaten Ali in their 3 fights.

Against other top flight heavyweights Norton had a mixed bag, he well against Duane Bobick not so well against Gerry Cooney, George Foreman and of course Larry Holmes. Ironcially while the top heavyweights beat eachother senseless Ali, Foreman, Fraizer, Norton never met Joe Fraizer in the ring, if they ever met what a fight that would have been, both are styles that take alot to throw one and both never give in.

If he were fighting today he would be the heavyweight division, that in itself says alot about the state of the heavyweight division today. Ken Norton …R.I.P.

I am a lifelong New York Mets, Knicks and Jets and Giants fan. I root hard for my teams and have rooted for them even when it wasn't and in some cases still isn't easy. I enjoy talking sports, and on here I get to write about it as well. I have my thoughts hence Small thoughts, we will not always agree, but respectfully speak about what we feel.
