Brooklyn Nets reassign Lawrence Frank …Kidd cites differences

The NBA season in both Manhattan and Brooklyn has gotten ugly early and it will get late early if neither team gets it together soon. The Nets in some respects have more riding on this season than the Knicks do. They were the team that pulled off the big trade to get Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry to Brooklyn from Boston. They were the ones that were talking championship and how they were going to take New York from the Knicks. They boasted a better starting lineup than the Knicks and their owner was looking for every chance to stick it to Knicks owner James Dolan. Well neither team is any good and the first shoe drop when the Nets reassigned Lawrence Frank.

Head coach Jason Kidd said Frank will not be at practices or games, and that he will be writing daily reports. He said the two had ”different philosophies.”

”This is a decision that I had to make and I made it and we move on,” Kidd said.

Kidd played for Frank with the Nets and hired him when he became a first-time coach in June. Frank had spent the two previous seasons as coach of the Detroit Pistons, and earned a league-high 21.4 percent of the vote as best assistant by executives who voted in the preseason NBA.com GM survey.

Frank is the Nets’ career leader in NBA wins with 225. He was expected to work mostly with the defense, but the Nets are near the bottom of the league in that category, allowing 102.4 points per game.

Kidd denied that the defensive struggles were behind his decision.

”Different philosophies and that’s it,” he said. ”We’ll figure out how to stop people.”

Was feeling that Frank had too much influence on the team, to where maybe the players saw Frank as the headcoach? Or is it possible that in Kidd’s case he clearly isin over his head when it comes to the experience factor in head coaching? It will bear watching as to how this will play out in the coming games. The battle of the bottom of the Atlantic division between the Nets and Knicks is on Thursday and there is talk on the Knicks side of Woodson being replaced by former knick coach Jeff Van Gundy…this could get interesting quick. One thing is for sure one of these New york teams is going to have their losing streak extended by another game after Thursday night.

    1. just like our Knicks…but I did say i didn’tlike the moves the Nets made and that if they meaning Garnett and Pierce were done last year how could they not be done this year too???

      1. Garnett was coming on at the end last year which has always been his style…slow starter-fast finisher. Risky taking on older veterans. They are just not dependeable.

      2. I didn’t like the deal for the Nets I think what they had was better left alone and maybe wait and see what you need at the trade deadline, but Billy King gambled big and lost big …
