The sound you heard was the sound of ray rice career crashing to a screeching halt. The ravens wanted no parts of this madness, they released him, the NFL suspended him indefinitely.
”The Baltimore Ravens terminated the contract of RB Ray Rice this afternoon.”
Coach John Harbaugh said he met with Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti, team president Dick Cass and general manager Ozzie Newsome after they saw the video, and they made the decision to let Rice go
The one question that everyone is asking is…what took so long for both the Ravens and the NFL to do something like this? How much of this was due in part to TMZ making the video public forcing the Team and the league to do something is worth asking and with good reason. If TMZ had not made this tape public this would have been as it was kept as quiet as possible with Rice serving his two game suspension and go back to playing and hear the cheers of fans throughout the NFL.
But now all of that comes to end for Ray Rice, and no matter how you angle it no matter how much blame you want to put on anyone else it comes down to one thing and one thing only…none of what befalls Ray Rice happens if he never puts his hands on his finance’ now wife in the first place.
When the NFL announced Rice’s two-game suspension for domestic violence on July 24, Newsome said: ”We respect the efforts Ray has made to become the best partner and father he can be. That night was not typical of the Ray Rice we know and respect. We believe that he will not let that one night define who he is, and he is determined to make sure something like this never happens again.”
In late July, Harbaugh said, ”The thing I appreciate about it is how Ray has handled it afterward by acknowledging it was wrong and he’ll do everything he can do to make it right. That’s what you ask for when someone does a wrong thing. So, I’m proud of him for that.”
Asked Monday night if Rice misled him, Harbaugh said he didn’t want to get into ”all that.”
”I don’t think of it that way. Everything I said in terms of what I believe, I stand by,” he said. ”I believe that still, and I’ll always believe those things, and (we’ll) always stand in support of them as a couple, and that’s not going to change.”
Rice said in a news conference this summer that his actions that night were ”inexcusable.” But the Ravens never took action against him until after the second video was released.
It became to much bad P.R. for the Ravens, boycotts would have been next if they had continued to do nothing, the NFL couldn’t afford the continued backlash as well, everyone who says they didn’t see the second video until it came out is either hiding their heads ain the sand or was away on a another planet. The NFL is a well connected business especially in light of all the craziness that happens with the players from DUI to doemstic abuse they have access to law enforment people. If MLB can get to people in the BioGenesis scandal and can get evidence then surely the NFL can get the video featuring one of it’s stars beating up a woman he claims to love and wishes to spend the rest of his life with.
But make no mistake while the is blame to go around and everyone will make a case for blame on the Ravens part, the NFL’s part …none of this happens if Ray Rice doesn’t put his hands on his Finance’.
