To the surprise of few ARod’s admitted use of PEDs didn’t rock the sports landscape. Not today. After years of lying to the press, the public, the fans, and suing anyone who dared say he did PEDs, fighting Baseball on his suspension and racking up untold dollars of legal bills (Lawyers) after all of that…he admitted that he did use PEDS, while playing for the Yankees. Further tainting his supposed Legacy. The only reason he finally confessed to Performance Enhancing Drugs was because he saw an opportunity to rat out his supplier …Tony Bosch as part of an immunity deal with the Drug Enforcement Association.
Although the All-Star third baseman had admitted to steroids use in the past, he had steadfastly denied using banned substances since he joined the New York Yankees in 2004. “All my years in New York have been clean,” he told ESPN in 2009.
For nearly two years, Rodriguez has claimed that he never took performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) from Biogenesis. But Major League Baseball didn’t buy his side of the story, and suspended him for a record 211 regular-season games in 2013. That initial punishment was reduced to 162 games.
“I have been clear that I did not use performance-enhancing substances … and in order to prove it, I will take this fight to federal court,” said Rodriguez in January of this year.
Question how do you know when Alex Rodriquez is lying? Answer …when he opens his mouth. How do you know when he is telling the truth? For years he lied about his PED use. Don’t forget he was first outed by Jose Canseco, he lied to Katie Couric and said he never took PEDs , then finally admitted he started taking it when he signed a 250 million dollar contract with the Texas Rangers, but when he was traded to the Yankees he was clean …yeah right! The Yankees are stuck with him. He’s 39 out of baseball for a year , plus coming off two hip surgeries he looks to be seriously done. Yet he is owed the remainder of his Yankees contract somewhere close to 80-85 million dollars through 2017…3 more years.
But again the only person who has to be the most shocked by his confession is …Alex Rodriquez himself. His ego wouldn’t stand for admitting to PED use before. Now with his career all but done, owed millions but owning millions in legal fees to lawyers for suing MLB what else is there to lose but to finally admit what he knew all along …Yet it’s news to him and him only.
