Rants: Greg Anthony…the sound you just heard was a career going down the drain… Anthony was arrested for soliciting a prostitute, the arrest was part of a vice operation sting. Anthony has been suspended by both CBS and Turner Sports.”Greg Anthony will not be working again for CBS this season,” A CBS spokeswoman said Saturday. Turner Sports also suspended the TV commentator and said it ”will have no further comment.”
Rants: Tom Brady… for denying any involvement in deflating footballs to gain a edge against the Colts. I would never do anything outside the rules of play,” Brady said. “I would never have someone do something outside the rules.” His creditability is already being questioned by former players who believe he wasn’t telling the truth at the press conference. Brady said, “I didn’t alter the ball in any way.””I have no knowledge of anything,” Brady said. “I have no knowledge of any wrongdoing. I’m very comfortable saying that nobody did it, as far as I know. I was in the locker room preparing for a game – I don’t know what happened over the course of the process with the footballs.” former NFL quarterback Mark Brunell of ESPN flatly and with a touch of anger said he didn’t believe what Brady said.
“I did not believe what Tom had to say,” Brunell said on ESPN right after Brady was done. “Those balls were deflated, somebody had to do it, and I don’t believe there’s an equipment manager in the NFL that would on his own initiative deflate a ball without the starting quarterback’s approval. I just didn’t believe what Tom Brady had to say.”
Rants: Bill Belichick…All those who believe Bill Belichick knew nothing about the footballs being deflated raise your hands? I thought so … Belichick claimed not to know anything “When I came in Monday morning, I was shocked to hear about the news reports about the footballs. I had no knowledge of the situation until Monday morning,” Belichick said and then threw his own Quarterback under the bus:
“I think we all know that quarterbacks, kickers, specialists have certain preferences on the footballs,” Belichick said. “They know a lot more than I do. They’re a lot more sensitive to it than I am. I hear them comment on it from time to time, but I can tell you, and they will tell you, that there’s never any sympathy whatsoever from me on that subject. Zero.
“Tom’s personal preferences on his footballs are something that he can talk about in much better detail and information than I could possibly provide.”
You have to wonder if Robert Kraft is a little tired of the controversy when it comes to his team and their methods of winning. There is a loud out cry to exact a harsh punishment on the Patriots this time…this is starting to get ugly.
Raves: Derrick Rose …don’t look now but the former MVP is rounding back to form which for Bulls fans has them thinking deep into the playoffs. Noah, Gasol Butler and Rose …this could be a tough out for whoever faces them in the playoffs and Rose is the key to the Bulls championship dreams.
Raves:Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors…who has the best record in the NBA? Golden State Warriors at 34-6. Who is the coach of this team …Steve Kerr yes that same Steve Kerr who almost took the Knick job (7-36) instead he played his cards right and got a better deal and better team and now he is coaching the West all stars at Madison Square Garden …you the Zen Master (Phil Jackson) isn’t thrilled
Raves:Sandy Alderson…you ‘re wondering what did he do right? He resisted the urge and the public pressure to trade Noah Syndegard for Ian Desmond. On the surface you like most are screaming making the deal right? For once Sandy did the smart thing by not making this deal. The problem isn’t that Desmond isn’t a good player because he is , the problem is he is on the last year of a deal.He turned down 90 million dollars from the Nationals he is looking for a bigger deal than that. The mets wouldn’t pay Jose Reyes 100 million there is no way they were going to give up a top prospect and run the risk of seeing Desmond go the free agent route and sign with someone else. Then have your top pitching prospect go pitch well for someone else for the next ten years. I want the Mets to make a move for a top flight shortstop like everyone else but in this case Sandy did the right thing on this deal.
