Rants: Sandy Alderson…Only Sandy and the Mets can mess up even a simple explanation of to why they picked Bartolo Colon and Jacob De Grom to pitch opening day and the home opener, when asked was this motivate by money…a simple yes would have been refreshing because it would have been the truth instead we Met fans get the following: ”Look, we take a lot of things into account,” Alderson said Tuesday. ”I think the first and foremost is: Does any pitcher deserve to pitch in a game of that sort, and I think that was the primary focus. You’re assuming more people are interested in seeing Harvey pitch than Jacob. That’s probably true, but not something I would acknowledge.” Talk about disconnected to his fan base. Met fans want even reason to believe in this team, yet Sandy gives another cold water with ice on it treatment.
Rants:John Caliari...There is a report out there that suggest that Coach Cal desperately wants to coach again in the NBA. Why would a extremely successful college coach who is on the verge of writing history even think about leaving for the NBA now? There is a chance , a slim chance that if offered the right deal he would leave for the NBA (One report has him in Brooklyn coaching and running the Nets) but right now I can’t see him leaving Kentucky, he is the king of the state, Rick Pitino has been pushed in his review mirror never to be seen at all this season, and he has a 7 year deal for boat load of money so what does he have to gain by going to the NBA?
Rants:Adidas…Back in 1984 Adidas had a chance to sign Michael Jordan to an endorsement deal that wouldhave really push them into another level, which Nike ended up doing…and the logic for not signing Michael Jordan was…executives in Germany decided shoppers would favor taller players and wanted to sponsor centers, the person says, adding: “We kept saying, ‘no—no one can relate to those guys. Who can associate with a seven-foot-tall guy?’ ”So at 6 foot 6 Michael Jordan is short? In the real world he is very tall. Walk down the street how many people do you see at 6’6 and people say hey shorty? Yeah exactly …no one. How short sighted of the executives of Adidas.
Raves: New York Jets…Who retaliated back against the Patriots with tampering charges of their own, You tampered on Revis …no you tampered on Revis no I didn’t you did…The rivalry continues …gotta love it
Raves:Steve Alford …despite all the screaming that went on when UCLA got selected to the Tournment he got them focused and now they are in the sweet 16…so I guess we were wrong on that one huh?
Raves: David Wright…It’s a reach and it’s spring training, but the best thing that is happening for the Mets right now is the good health of David Wright, he is hitting the ball well and hitting with power right centerfield power. That is a positive for a team and a franchise that needs all the positives it can get. Here is hoping this can translate into a fast start for the Mets for this season.
