Rants: Tom Brady and Robert Kraft … The NFL heard Tom Brady’s appeal and decided to uphold the suspension end of story right? Wrong …The Players Union decided to fight the ruling and are now looking to take this to Federal Court, Brady it was told destroyed the very thing that could have proved his innocence/or guilt…his cellphone. He declared he will accept responsibility for something he says he didn’t do…yet the league has his text messages that says other wise, meanwhile his boss Robert Kraft has gone full bore after the League and his pal ..Comissioner Roger Goodell…”I was wrong to put my faith in the league,” Kraft said. “Given the facts, evidence and laws of science that underscore this entire situation, it’s completely incomprehensible to me that the league continues to take steps to disparage one of its all-time great players and a man for whom I have the utmost respect. Personally, this is very sad and disappointing to me.” What Kraft didn’t say is how disappointing it is for his best player not to cooperate with the league during it’s investigation and by not cooperating looks like he has something to hide. Had Brady accepted his suspension his legacy would still be intact and it would have been a speed bump on the way to Hall of Fame, now by taking this fight further …He will tarnish a once shinning legacy into one that will be look at as cheater got caught, and whined because he didn’t like the punishment.
Rants: Sheldon Richardson… He got big issues here. It was bad enough that he was caught failing a drug test which cost him and the Jets 4 games of his talent, but it gets worse from here as reports of his July 14th arrest for 143 mph with a 12 year old in the car (child endangerment) the strong odor of burned marijuana coming from the vehicle and a fully loaded semi-automatic handgun was recovered from underneath the driver’s side floor mat. His continued drug use is a on going problem, if you’re suspended 4 games why make things worse by continue to use what got you suspended in the first place, now add to a gun charge with a child in the car and driving to a ridiculous speed of 143 mph, this is a life that has spun out of control. This is beyond football this is a life that is a wreck.
Rants: New York Mets … This is a week that this franchise wished never happened. From weird to ok there’s hope to you got to be kidding me to they made a deal for Gomez to what do you mean the deal is off ?? The week in review …. A baby raccoon loose in the weight room. Two feel-good trades Jose Uribe , Kelly Johnson and Tyler Clippard come to the mets and the fans sense the team is finally doing something to stay competitive only to be undercut by a 162-game PED suspension, by Jenry Mejia whoo ironically was reinstated from a 80 game suspension for the same reason…PEDS. Then a trade is announced which included Zach Wheeler and Wilmer Flores as the game is going on , Wilmer Flores is in tears as Wednesday’s tentative deal for Carlos Gomez, rubber-stamped on Twitter, unraveled in a Citi Field office. Met manager Terry Collins is glueless that a trade had been announced and that is the reason why Flores is visably upset.
And the kicker? Thursday’s 8-7 loss to the Padres, a game twice interrupted by rain that stretched for 6 hours, 12 minutes.
Jeurys Familia was two strikes away from closing it in the ninth inning when the first deluge came. After a 44-minute delay, Familia finished the Mets instead, giving up a three-run homer by Justin Upton that sailed through a downpour.
Gomez who was supposed be traded to the Mets was then traded to the Houston Astros instead…bad hip and all. You can’t make this up.
Raves: Becky Hammon…Congratulations for winning the NBA’s Summer League title, ok ok it’s not like she won the NBA Title …but in a sport ruled by men young and old she held her own and got her team focused to perform well during summer league action. This proves that the Spurs (progressive thinkers) always ahead of the curve.
Raves: Arizona Cardinals…seems to be following the same blueprint of the Spurs in hiring Jen Welter as an assistant coach. It remains to be seen how she will command respect in a league of physically imposing men but, like the Spurs give the cardinals credit for looking past gender and hiring the best qualified person to coach players on their team.
Raves: Houston Astros …when the trade between the Mets and Brewers fell aprt they swooped in and made a deal to bring Carlos Gomez to Houston. Needless to say they are serious about winning and making a long post season run.
