Smallthoughts: Rants and Raves

Rants: Boston RedSox…this falls under what were they thinking signing David Price to a 7 year 217 million dollar contract? The numbers are mind numbing 31 million per season 9,000 per start…his post season record? 2-7 with an E.R.A. of 5.12 so if his win loss record was the reverse (7-2) and his E.R.A. was 2.15 how much would he have been paid if 217 million was the tipping point? Insane! The Expectations will definitely be high in Boston that is for sure.

Rants: Johnny Manziel…The manchild of Cleveland has been given every chance to success and yet he continues to ruin it for himself, his latest slipup a video released of him showing him partying. This after he apparently lied to his bosses in Cleveland that he learned his lesson and was going to tone it down, instead …oops one more time. He fell so far out of favor in Cleveland that he is now the third string quarterback  behind the  injured Josh Mc Gown and Austin Davis. It time for a change of scenery for Johnny Football, rumors are that the Dallas Cowboys could be a landing spot of Manziel next season (Jerry Jones wanted badly to draft Manziel but back off)

Rants: Rutgers University…The Football program is a mess 7 players were arrested this season, the coach Kyle Flood was suspended for 3 games for making inappropriate contact with a professor regarding a player’s academics, and the team itself played poorly to a 4-8 record so…now both the Athletic Director Julie Hermann and head coach Kyle Flood were fired this week. Hermann has been replaced by Patrick Hobbs. No word on who will be the new head coach as of yet.

Raves: Ben Simmons…Get ready for the next big thing coming  to the NBA. Many compare him to Lebron James but it’s possible he is more like Magic Johnson yeah the skills are that good. In a 119-108 victory over North Florida Simmons line was 43 points 14 Rebounds 7 Assists 5 steals 3 blocked shots in 37 minutes and did not attempt a 3 point shot … that is working it.

Raves: Green Bay Packers …if you are down 17-0 in the first quarter you think it isn’t going to be your night, never mind have a finish like the Packers did in Detroit. It is now called the Miracle in Motown…what a finish to the game. It’s worth seeing what I am talking about…here is the link…

Raves:Golden State Warriors …what else can you say? they are 20-0 when was the last time a team started the NBA season 20-0 ? Exactly … a long time ago, even on nights when they are not clicking the find ways to win (see their game against Utah) don’t forget they head coach isn’t around he is still out recovering and Luke Walton has been filling in his absence. It definitely helps to have Steph Curry lighting it up every night.
