Fish Fry in LA…Fisher Fired by Rams
When I heard Jeff Fisher was fired by the Rams I texted a friend and said didn’t he just get a contract extension? I guess in the end it doesn’t matter to a owner (Stan Kroenke, the billionaire businessman )who owns both the Rams and English Premier League side Arsenal. Enough was enough. It was a Fish fry in LA as Jeff Fisher who coached the Rams for the past 6 seasons in StLouis prior to the franchise’s move to LA was shown the door in LA just 4 months after arriving in town after a 2 decade absence.
With a quarterback of the future in No. 1 pick in the draft, quarterback Jared Goff. the Rams were expecting big things but couldn’t get it together. Fisher was ripped by running back Todd Gurley for having what amounted to a Middle school offense. The Rams heading into the game Sunday were 4-8 and then were embarrassed by both the Falcons and their own play in a 42-14 defeat which was the final nail in Fisher’s coffin.
Where do the Rams go from here ? There is a report that they are interested in Pete Carroll. That’s aiming high for sure but in a way it makes sense. He coached at USC and was extremely popular during his time there and that would have big time box office appeal plus they get a coach that knows how to coach and someone that could regain the locker room immediately. As to whether Carroll would be interested or if Seattle would let him out of his contract remains to be seen but one thing seems certain Rams ownership is aiming high for a better grade of coach on this next hire.
