Smallthoughts:Old School Tuesday …Jack (The Assassin) Tatum

Start here

I featured Jack Tatum back in October 2013

You can’t talk about hard hitters without the granddaddy of hard hitters(Dirty player for some) Jack Tatum.

Jack Tatum is the single reason why the defense isn’t allowed to hit like they used, the reason for no more helmet to helmet hits late hits and all the other hits as well. Tatum is best known for hit vicious hit on Darryl Stingley that left him paralyzed for the rest of his life.Jack Tatum wrote a book many years ago…They call me Assassin and after having read the book when it was first released, Tatum didn’t make apologies for how he played and was like that even back in high school.
In the modern era of the NFL today Ronnie Lott is considered the hardest hitter of his time and yet he had nothing and I do mean nothing on Jack Tatum. For those of you too young to know who Jack Tatum was I will caution you that his hits were before the NFL decided to outlaw many of the hits he used to routinely dish out. And for those of you who remember Jack Tatum all I can see is when you watch the video I won’t blame you if you cringe just alittle. So without further delay … They call me assassion aka Jack Tatum career highlights.
