Coming into training camp the pressure was on Christian Hackenberg to distinguish himself as a quarterback in the NFL. Jets GM Mike Mccagnan’s job basically is riding on it for all intense and purposes. He used a 2nd round pick on Hackenberg so when you use a 2nd round pick on a player he has to be ready to step in a play right away. Not be a project 2 or 3 years down the road. Yet nothing about Hackenberg’s game makes the fans drool with excitement that they really got a find with that pick. And with the Jets in a total rebuild this is a golden opportunity for Hackenberg to step and be the number one QB. Bottom line he isn’t ready for the bright light, he isn’t ready for the preseason light for that matter and there has to be concern by the Jet brass if he will ever be ready. Bryce Petty the one they keep overlooking keeps showing that he can at least play well enough to give Josh Mc Gowan a run for his money. Yet the jets if they see him at all they see him as a back up, which shows how much they have stars in their eyes for Hackenberg. So when you guess wrong about a quarterback in the NFL you set your franchise back 5 years.. In the Jets case considering the state of it’s roster they are playing for the number one pick in the 2018 NFL draft and guess what they should pick at that point? You guessed it…a quarterback. Why because Hackenberg simply can’t hack it.
