Smallthoughtsinasportsworld is 7 years young

If you have been on WordPress for any length of time they are good about sending you a note when you reach a milestone on views or in this case an anniversary. WordPress notified me that Smallthoughtsinasportsworld is 7 years young. Time flies when you are having fun. It took a moment to remember that it has been that long from the moment that smallthoughtsinasportsworld got started. This all started when someone suggested that I start a blog. They knew I liked sports and liked to write and said combine the two and start a blog. Confession time…I didn’t even know what a blog was …I had to look it up seriously.Then I had to decide on a name for the blog, what would be my theme etc. Slowly things started to evolve. The name smallthoughtsinasportsworld came from my last name and my love of sports and yes my opinion (Rant of the week and Rave of the week )

When I first started I guess I was all over the place meaning I would blog all over the place I had no set days or set themes but in time Smallthougths: Old School Tuesday was formed and like with the blog itself things slowly evolve. One rule on Old School Tuesday aside from being on Tuesdays …it is our moment to shine a light on those retired and nearly forgotten accomplished athletes from yesteryear. Originally I posted 3 Old Schools on Tuesday usually I tried to keep it in the same sport of the athlete or keep it in a certain theme. Now due to change in work schedule it has become more challenging to do three posts like that so I confined it to just one post on Tuesdays.

Smallthoughts: Trivia Thursday just kind of happened by accident. I was watching a New York Mets broadcast and as their usual thing they do a trivia question which I say get 40 percent of the time. So I decided to try something like that then I had to decide when and the format to make it work…it took time but it came together. Because it is trivia unlike Old School Tuesday trivia can be current players,and or  teams accomplishment.

Smallthoughts: Rant and Rave of the Week…originally started out as as Rants and Raves of the week which was 3 Rants and 3 Raves. This was and still is posted on Fridays along with the answer to Smallthoughts Trivia Thursdays question of the week. The challenge was posting not 3 Rants which is easy in a crazy sports world but 3 Raves in one week. To find something good in sports world is one thing 3 that was a challenge. Time and a changing work schedule made it difficult to maintain 3 Rants and 3 Raves, so I cut it down to one of each and separate the Rants and Raves to it’s own posts. That seems to have worked out better in the long run.

When I started this blog Jeremy Lin or Linsanity was the rage and he gave the Knicks a shot of relevance that hasn’t been seen since he departed New York but Linsanity had also put smallthoughtsinasportsworld on the map. It gave me views almost immediately to which I am grateful. I have always said if I wrote a book and only one person bought it I would be grateful because I write because I love to write. It i what I love. Smallthoughtsinasportsworld has evolved and along the way picked up some wonderful viewers one who has been with me for the whole ride is my friend at Fantasy Furnace. Newer viewers like my friends Cover2Chris and long time friend Bruce from Philly have been good at providing feedback that help me decide how to continue to evolve this blog.
