This falls under the category of you can’t make this up. While addressing the state of Mickey Callaway’s job status, Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen announced that Yoenis Cespedes fractured his right ankle in a fall on his ranch and no he didn’t fall off his horse. Cespedes was recovering from surgery on both heels and the team was looking forward to having Cespedes by mid-season but with this injury and surgery …Cespedes is now done for the season.Cespedes signed a four-year, $110 million contract with the Mets after the 2016 season. After stellar seasons in 2015 and 2016, injuries limited Cespedes to only 81 games in 2017 and 38 games last year. With today’s news that he’s not expected to play in 2019, Cespedes will have only played 119 games total in the first three years of his contract.

I am a lifelong New York Mets, Knicks and Jets and Giants fan. I root hard for my teams and have rooted for them even when it wasn't and in some cases still isn't easy. I enjoy talking sports, and on here I get to write about it as well. I have my thoughts hence Small thoughts, we will not always agree, but respectfully speak about what we feel. I invite your comments and feedback as well. You can also follow me on twitter @bklynboy59 and facebook Jerry bklynboy Small
