Small thoughts: Rants and Raves

Rants- the New York Jets for losing yet again, this time to their hated rivals the Miami Dolphins, and for looking bad doing it. At 3-5 they have their work cut it for them after the bye week. Seattle at Seattle, StLouis and on thanksgiving night, the New England Patriots at MetLife stadium. Potentially they could go 0-3 in this stretch of games and be 3-8 and playing for the number one pick in the draft. Yes jet fans it could get that bad…and please explain to me again why did the Jets trade for that winner named Tim Tebow and not use him?

Rants- Detroit Tigers Offense Whatever the Yankees had in their series against the Tigers, the Tigers must have picked it up because their bats were silenced in the 4 game sweep by the Giants, in the World Series. The Tigers best pitcher, Justin Verlander pitched only once in the series and was smacked around by the Giants lineup that will never be confused by the 1927 murderers row Yankees.

Rants – Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones It seems he can’t help talking smack to the Giants every time the Cowboys play the Giants. We going to MetLife stadium and kick the Giants…hmmm ok Jer, nice move get Big Blue more fired up. Have to like how the Giants handle teams that like to talk smack to them (the Jets, 49ers, and the Cowboys) they just go about their business and smack them around and win. With the win the Giants opened up a 2 and half game lead on the ‘Boys and the there are no more meetings between these two rivals.

Rants-NHL For canceling games through November. This lock out isn’t about the players being greedy, it’s about the Owners needing to be protected from themselves. This about revenue sharing which the real battle is among the Owners themselves not the Players. Yet the Owners are pushing to get the numbers crunched as low as possible so as to feel better about themselves.

Raves- the SanFrancisco Giants for winning their second World Series in 3 years, does this make them a dynasty?

Raves –James Harden for guessing right that he could get a better deal than the one Oklahoma City Thunder offered. By signing an 80 million dollar deal he put an additional 26 million in his pocket. The down side is he is going to be asked to carry the Houston Rockets as opposed to being a spark off the Thunder’s bench. But at least Jeremy Lin now has a running mate now.

Raves-NBA for using common sense to postpone Brooklyn Nets home opener against the New York Knicks, at the Barclays Center. While I’m sure there were some who wanted to play the game, it is more important for the focus to be on repairing the damage done by Hurricane Sandy than playing a game that can be made up at another time.

Which leads me to say this, my thoughts and prayers are with all those who are having a hard time recovering from hurricane Sandy. The damage done was bad enough, yet material things can be replaced in time, loss of life cannot so please be careful and be safe.

  1. Nice recap of the good and bad in sports over the past few weeks. And in Jerry Jones case…the Ugly!
Hope you were not overly affected by the storm and that you and your family remain safe.

    1. we were unaffected here. But the madness that has transpried over the week is heartbreaking I CAN’T CHANGE THE DIRECTION OF THE WIND, BUT I CAN ADJUST MY SAILS SO I CAN ALWAYS REACH MY DESTINATION.
