He was called the hardest puncher of all time and that was saying alot about the man called Earine (the Acorn) Shavers. Joe Fraizer, George Foreman, Ken Norton and Larry Holmes had made their reps as being hard punchers, but Shavers was a class above that. It was like getting in the ring with a man who had dynamite in each hand ready to go off. Yet for all of Shavers knock out power, he never won the heavyweight title even though he had a shot against Muhummad Ali and against Larry Holmes. Today well give Earnie Shavers his due.
