In order for there to be a Big 3 in Cleveland there has to be another big piece on the way. In Miami they had Bosh Wade and Lebron, now that Lebron is in Cleveland …right now there is only the big 2 Kyrie Irving and Lebron so…Lebron the GM wants to be shown some Love…Kevin Love that is. The Cavaliers are in talks with the Minnesota Timberwolves pair Love with LeBron in Cleveland. The Cavs and Timberwolves have had ongoing talks about a trade for Love, but a deal is not imminent, said one high-ranking source involved in the discussions.
It is reported that the Cavs are willing to trade their number 1 pick…Andrew Wiggins to make this happen. The Timberwolves also have spoken to the Golden State Warriors about Love, but the Warriors have so far been reluctant to include guard Klay Thompson in a trade.
Love’s representatives have informed Timberwolves management he will opt out of his contract after next season and leave the franchise in free agency if he is not traded. For all the attention given Love it begs the question, is he a good player on a bad team? He has yet to make the playoffs in his time with the T-Wolves and to believe that going to a different team and different situation would make the Cavs title contenders also begs another question, How do you go to the elite status when you haven’t made the playoffs since Lebron took his talents to South beach four years ago?
While it has become the sexy pick to believe that Lebron’s presence alone is enough to will the Cavs all the way to the finals, it is still a fact that this is a team that has to learn how to win, something that Lebron has plenty of experience in but the rest of the current Cavs do not. Add Kevin Love in the mix and while it looks good on paper …he hasn’t been to the playoffs and also needs to learn how to…win. Is Love an elite player? He is a gopod player but I willing to reserve judgement on whether he is an elite player until we see what he is under the bright lights with a real team with real expectations.
