The New Orleans Hornets are changing their name and logo starting next season. They plan to make the official announcement Thursday. The new name will be the New Orleans Pelicans which is that same name of the state bird. The team log will also change from it’s current Blue and gold pinstripe to blue, gold and red.The Hornets were bought by Tom Benson who also owns the NFL’s New Orleans Saints and plans on keeping the team in New Orleans. Since the Hornets name will be no longer in use. there is an idea being floated about that the Charlotte Bobcats will be interested in reclaiming that nickname (Hornets) and go back to the original nickname that Charlotte started with.

I am a lifelong New York Mets, Knicks and Jets and Giants fan. I root hard for my teams and have rooted for them even when it wasn't and in some cases still isn't easy. I enjoy talking sports, and on here I get to write about it as well. I have my thoughts hence Small thoughts, we will not always agree, but respectfully speak about what we feel. I invite your comments and feedback as well. You can also follow me on twitter @bklynboy59 and facebook Jerry bklynboy Small
