Are you ready this is the hypocrisy of the National Football league when it comes to off the field scandals. Hit a woman, choke a woman , or be arrested for domestic violence and you too will get a second and possibly a third chance in the National Football League but don’t stand for the National Anthem and well see Colin Kaepernick. The Baltimore Ravens have been reportedly interested in signing Kaepernick , well almost everyone that matters in the Ravens organization. The coach is all in so is the General Manager so what is the problem? The owner.
Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh and general manager Ozzie Newsome support the signing of free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick, but they have met resistance from owner Steve Bisciotti, sources tell ESPN’s Dianna Russini.
Sources say at least one other NFL team has wanted to add Kaepernick to its roster, but the move was blocked by the team’s owner.
Newsome said in a statement Wednesday afternoon that Bisciotti hasn’t pushed back on a potential contract for Kaepernick.
“We are going through a process, and we have not made a decision,” the statement said. “Steve Bisciotti has not told us we cannot sign Colin Kaepernick, nor has he blocked the move. Whoever is making those claims is wrong.”
On Sunday, Bisciotti said the team was still weighing whether to sign Kaepernick, who drew national attention last season when he knelt during the national anthem before games to protest social injustice. Sources have told ESPN that Kaepernick will not do that in 2017.
The Ravens have said they’ve spoken with Kaepernick and discussed the possibility of adding him with current and former players — including Ray Lewis — as well as fans and sponsors. Lewis offered advice to Kaepernick on Tuesday in a video posted to his Twitter account, suggesting that Kaepernick be less vocal about his social activism.
Said Bisciotti on Sunday: “We do want to win games, and I’m not sure [Kaepernick] is going to help us do that. We’re monitoring Joe. We’ve talked to Joe about it. We’re monitoring Mallett and keeping our door open. We’ve talked about RG3 [Robert Griffin III] and bringing him in for a workout.”
Seriously you really think the Ravens are going to sign RG3? Yeah exactly they are not. In a league where Greg Hardy, Ezekiel Elliott can be allowed to play in spite of domestic charges hanging over their heads Bisciotti is hemming and humming about whether to sign Kaepernick. Enough posturing already either commit to signing Colin Kaepernick or move on but stop with the posturing and making dumb statement about considering other players like RG3. It’s down right embarrassing.
So Roger Goodell there to provide Steve Biscotti with moral support or simply to make sure the owner towed the line with the continued black-balling of Colin Kaepernick ? As for Ray Lewis and his idiocy of being consulted on the matter , I guess Lewis also had to consult Trump, before he could come up with a definitive answer of his own. Goodell and the owners in the league remain a damn joke. Such hypocrisy is undeniable .
