Kobe: This isn’t working

For Knicks fan out there who think the knicks have problems with teams like the Nets..well maybe trade places with the Lakers and Kobe bryant who has bigger problems. It’s so bad for Kobe and the Lakers that he admits it isn’t working. He has been left groping for answers. And he has come to the realizations that Knick fans ahad known and loathe about Mike Dantoni it’s all about his system and he adjust his system for no one.How else does one explain benching Pau Gasol one of the better players in the league in the post? Steve nash was supposed to make the lakers better when he returned from his injury and yet the Lakers are still trying to figure out dantoni and system and that is with Steve Nash who used to run this system to two NBA MVP’s. In an interview Kobe gave yahoo sports he stated the following:
In regards that the offense needs to run through Dwight Howard:
“I’ve tried to go out of my way to get him the ball,” Bryant told Y! Sports. “Sometimes I end up looking like an idiot, because I get up in the air, I’ve got a shot, but I try to find him. But he thinks I’m going to shoot, so his back is turned. I’m trying to think about getting him the ball a lot – take care of him as much as I possibly can. It takes me out of rhythm a little bit, but I’m fine with that. If that’s going to help our team, I’m more than willing to do that.”
I’ve constantly tried to help him out, tried to talk to him,” Bryant said. “Two o’clock in the morning, three o’clock in the morning. Texting him. Sharing reading materials. Anything to try and help him.

“He’s coming off a major surgery in a market where it’s just merciless; where there’s demands and responsibilities of athletes. It’s been tough on him.”

On Mike Dantoni’s system “We need to go back to basics,” Bryant said. “We need to put guys in positions to do what they do best. We need to strip it down. Steve is best in pick-and-roll. Pau is best in the post. I’m best from the free-throw line extended down. Let’s go back to basics.
What is left unsaid is Kobe is hearing the ticking of the clock winding down on his career and his goal of chasing a catching Michael Jordan in championships at 6. Kobe is at 5 and holding… with Lebron finally getting his first championship, Kevin Durant looking for his first and the Knicks Nets and Celtics making noise in the east Kobe has stiff competition if he is to compete for another championship. The Lakers currently are 7 games under 500 and are if the season ended today out of the playoffs. So for Kobe there is a sense of urgency that he is unaccustom to at any point his is stellar career. If his career ended today walking away with 5 championship would be nothing too sneeze at some players have never won one (Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, John Stockton among others)and would kill to be in Kobe’s position to have 5 and chasing one more, so let’s not throw a pity party for Kobe Bryant, on any given night he is still and lethal assasin. So yes it maybe that Kobe has to set his sights alittle lower until he and the lakers have this figured out, but in the meantime…

  1. This is LA, a city that only expects the best from it’s sport teams. Just look at the Dodgers and Trojans. With so much talent on one team, it is difficult to not point fingers. I don’t know who to blame but I agree, no pity party for Bryant. He just wants to live out his last 2 years on a high note and all of LA would love to make that happen.
